Rides to appointments, with someone who stays.
A ride is the easy part. What actually helps is having someone walk in with you, sit through the appointment, remember what the doctor said, and get you home again.
Where I take people

- Hair salon, barber and personal appointments
- Church, the senior center, and visits with friends
- Grandchildren's events and family gatherings
What makes this different from a ride service
A rideshare driver will leave you at the clinic door. That works fine when you are forty. It works less well when the waiting room is confusing, the paperwork is small, and you would rather not walk back out into a parking lot alone in January.
At appointments I go in with you if you would like, and I wait. If it helps, I take notes, so there is a record of what was actually said rather than what everyone half remembers afterward. Then I bring you home and see you inside.
Church, the senior center and family events work differently. There is nothing to take notes on. I am simply the reason the trip happens at all, and I'll wait or come back, whichever suits.
For families out of town, that means somebody can tell you how the appointment really went.
Insured for this specific work
My auto insurance includes coverage for driving clients. That matters more than it sounds: a standard personal policy may not cover an accident that happens while someone is being paid to drive. It's worth asking anyone who offers to drive your parent, including me.
Rides are scheduled in advance
This is not an on-call ride service. Appointments are arranged ahead of time, usually as part of a regular weekly or biweekly visit, so I can give you my full attention and you can count on me being there. If you need same-day transportation, I am glad to point you toward other options.
What it costs
Transportation is billed like any other visit: $30 an hour with a two-hour minimum, plus $0.725 a mile when driving is involved. Time is counted from when I arrive at your home until I bring you back. Waiting time during the appointment is included, not extra.
What this isn't
I am a non-medical companion caregiver, not a medical transport service. I do not provide wheelchair-lift vehicles, stretcher transport, or any kind of medical care during the drive. If someone needs that level of support, they need a licensed medical transport provider, and I will help you find one.
